Hey y’all,

I just got home from Guatemala leading a team. My time in Guatemala was an amazing blessing, the Lord really spoke a lot during my time there.

During our time in Guatemala city, we went to the Guatemala City dump to work in the communities there. This is such a humbling experience. These people are some of the most warm and welcoming people I have meet. It is such a blessing to be able to go into their homes and learn about their lives and just spend time with them.

One of the team members captured this moment which happened to be one of my favorite moments of the trip. As we were getting the team across the street, I spotted this woman. She kept looking at the team with a smile on her face, I felt led to go and give her a hug. I introduced myself in Spanish and asked her what her name was. We talked back and forth for a moment until my Spanish ran out, I then just looked at her with a smile and gave her a hug. She giggled and smiled before I told her I had to return to the group. This to me was such a Jesus moment. I am so glad that a photo was taken because this is something I want to remember always.

Whenever I visit Antigua I always go back and see my friend David. We meet in 2010 when I was on the World Race. David knows very few words but lights up when he has visitors. He is one of the sweetest kids I know, I feel so blessed that the Lord allows me to continue to come back and see David. I really think that even though David cant talk and is at the hospital, he is such a light for Jesus. His smile seriously will light up a room.

We also took the team to a nursing home where we got to meet some of the most precious people. When the team got there we gave each person some nail polish, socks, and hair stuff. The team went around meeting with people, having conversations, and loving on those who feel unloved. We were told that most of these Grandmas and Grandpas have been dropped off at this home and will most likely never see their families again. They don’t often get visitors and the nurses have to many people to take care of to be able to spend one on one time with them. So brining a team of 20 white people in brought a lot of Joy right off the bat. It was one man’s birthday on the day of our visit. He though that no one would come see him for his birthday so we sang to him and enjoyed celebrating him.

One of my favorite moments was hanging out with this beautiful woman in the photo. She greeted the team as soon as they walked in. We painted her nails and put a bow in her hair, she was just such a jewel. As the team split up and started to meet with people this lovely lady grabbed my hand and pulled me over to a chair to sit with her. We sat down and I sang songs to her, told her how much she was loved, and that I want to adopt her as my grandma. She just lit up at every word I said. Later one of the other grandmas told me that she was deaf, mute, and almost blind, they told me that there was no point in being with her because she could not understand. I could not help but think that Jesus would be hanging out with her. Jesus spent time with the Lost and the broken, Jesus would of hung out with her. Now I have a new friend to visit next time I go back to Antigua. I have been so blessed by the people of Guatemala, I cant wait till the next time I go back.

Stay tuned to hear about what the Lord spoke to me during my time at the Adventures base.
